Modul Ajar Bahasa Inggris Kelas 9 SMP: Traditional Games and Sports (Bab 2)

Pembelajaran Recount Text mengenai pertandingan olahraga sekolah dan permainan tradisional (Bakiak, Gobak Sodor, Balap Karung), penggunaan Past Continuous Tense berdampingan dengan Simple Past Tense.

Capaian dan tujuan pembelajaran

  • Students are able to analyze the chronological structure and language features of Recount Texts.
  • Students are able to combine Past Continuous and Simple Past tenses using 'when' and 'while'.
  • Students are able to write a personal recount about a traditional game or school sports event.

Materi pokok & uraian konsep pembelajaran

Chapter Traditional Games and Sports mengajak peserta didik merekonstruksi pengalaman lampau mengenai perayaan lomba kemerdekaan dan festival olahraga tradisional melalui teks *Recount*.

Peserta didik mempelajari struktur generik Recount Text (*Orientation, Events in chronological order, Re-orientation*) dan mempraktikkan penggunaan kata penghubung urutan waktu (*first, then, after that, suddenly, in the end*).

Materi kebahasaan memfokuskan kombinasi tenses ketika suatu peristiwa sedang berlangsung di masa lampau lalu disela oleh peristiwa lain (*Past Continuous Tense: was/were + V-ing* dihubungkan dengan *when / while* dan *Simple Past Tense*), serta nilai sportivitas dan gotong royong.

Istilah kunci dan glosarium

Recount Text
A text which retells events or experiences in the past in chronological sequence for the purpose of informing or entertaining.
Orientation
The introductory part of a recount text that provides background information about who, where, and when the events occurred.
Past Continuous Tense
A verb tense used to describe an ongoing action that was happening at a specific moment in the past (was/were + verb-ing).
Gobak Sodor
A traditional Indonesian team game where players attempt to cross boundary lines guarded by the opposing team without getting tagged.
Re-orientation
The optional concluding paragraph in a recount text that provides personal comments or emotional reflection on the experience.
